The poll above is only to gauge opinion for those observing, and will not be used as the final result.

I oppose, and ask that we take a second look at what scripture says on the matter.

While I oppose women bishops, I can say from experience that women deacons in churches have often worked harder, volunteered more and are more approachable than male deacons. Providing that deacons do not have too much authority within the Church, I think that allowing women deacons is acceptable; all should be able to work in the Church for the glory of God.

Unless we are to take the position that Apostolic teachings no longer apply, then we could allow female deacons, but then we'd have to shorten our canon to eliminate NT books that disagree with our theology.

I do not believe that the Mercian Christian Church was founded on Apostolic principles in the first place; I am not in the mind to try and stretch the teaching of the Holy Bible to the very limit to oppose a minor move. Editing the number of books in the canon is something that we will approach at another time. As an aside however, what books, off the top of your head, would have to be removed from the canon?

I haven't the foggiest as to what we are propose for a canon as of now, but I think the Protestant canon of 66 books to be best. I have been lacking in a study of the Apocrypha, but from what I have heard and what Luther and others have written, it is largely useless anyhow and includes inconsistencies of all sorts.

I believe that the supports have it. While female deacons will not be introduced immediately, they can be accommodated once we have finished working on the Churches' canon and doctrine.
